Sipadan Island or Pulau Sipadan is located off the continental shelf of South Eastern Sabah. The oceanic island is surrounded by sheer walls of soft coral and a drop-off to 2,000 ft that are a mere 30 yards from the beach. It is a haven for a myriad of marine life and attracts large creatures like green sea-turtles and immense schools of barracudas. It is hailed as the most unique dive spot in Malaysia.
Sipadan Lodge is located on the eastern side of Sipadan island. If you are serious about comfort while on a dive holiday, Sipadan Lodge is the place. All chalets have attached shower, toilet facilities and air-conditioning. All structures are made of local material and sited spaciously under forest canopy which provides privacy in natural surroundings. At Sipadan Lodge, these are facilities you can count on:
- Travel and onward journey arrangements
- Beach hut chalets on twin-sharing basis (Single accommodation is optional, please specify). All rooms come with attached toilets and hot/cold showers.
- Standard electrical lightning, 240v/50Hz power point, ceiling fan and air-conditioning.
- Standard meal and beverages (carbonated & alcoholic drinks are not included) are available at the main Dive Lodge.
- A variety of Chinese, Local & Western cuisine will be served.
- Communication/Telephone and fax facilities are also available.
Diving facilities are standard. Tanks and weight belts are provided. Three boats dives and unlimited beach dive per day. A typical day on your vacation will most likely proceed as follows:
- At 7:30am to 8:00am, a light snack is ready at the main lodge for early risers (This is NOT breakfast!).
- The first dive will follow after your snack with a briefing from the resident dive-master or instructor.
- Breakfast will be ready upon your return from the first dive which ends at around 9:15am.
- The next dive will be scheduled just before lunch.
- Lunch will be served.
- After lunch and before sunset, there will be at least 2 scheduled dives and you have the option which to choose depending on dive profile.
- Dinner comes at about an hour after sunset.
- A night dive is available but is dependent on your diver profile.
- And if you are still energetic after the day's activity, register for the turtle watch. Green turtles occasionally come to shore at night to lay eggs. This is a rare spectacle that can be viewed under carefully guided conditions. You will still have time to catch a nap, fill your logbook, swap fish stories or just catch a few sunrays while downing a couple of ice-cool brews.
